About the Pendlerpauschale

Employees in Germany can deduct commuting costs via the Entfernungspauschale. The allowance is independent of the transport method and applies once per working day.

  • The first 20 km are eligible for 0.30 EUR per kilometre.
  • Every additional kilometre is currently valued at 0.38 EUR.
  • Only actual commuting days count. Exclude days of remote work, vacation, or sick leave.
  • Additional expenses such as parking fees can be claimed separately if you can provide evidence.

Reminder: Keep documentation of your commuting pattern in case the tax office requests proof.
